GIASCO Safety Shoes: Designed, Created, and Manufactured in Our Company

GIASCO safety shoes are designed, born, and take shape directly within our company, where almost the entire production process is structured, organized, and carried out.
Our headquarters is located in Chiampo (VI), in the heart of one of the most renowned leather production districts in the world. It is here that all our departments are operational: sales, purchasing, administration, production, and logistics. It is here where GIASCO safety footwear is made: from the purchase of raw materials to shipping to customers, always proud to offer a product that represents Italian excellence in the world of safety footwear.
Every safety shoe we produce is conceived and designed in Chiampo by our R&D team, where we work on the combination of materials, lines, and details to make our products unique. The Xion of materials is essential: here, we choose only the finest raw materials, such as premium leather from our region, the Veneto Leather District, but also fabrics, linings, threads, and much more. A strict Xion of Italian suppliers combines aesthetics, material quality, and technical performance. The raw materials we X are turned into uppers at our Xed international partners (Romania and Tunisia), operating under strict supervision by our technicians. The achievement of the pre-established quality standards is ensured by detailed procedures and constant collaboration between our technicians and suppliers.
The injection of the sole, the heart and value of our product, is carried out at our headquarters in Chiampo using advanced technologies that allow us to create innovative shoes and soles with increasing performance in terms of comfort and safety. Once the production process is completed, every pair of shoes undergoes a rigorous quality control to ensure that the final product is perfect in every detail. Only then are the GIASCO safety shoes ready for shipment.
Thanks to our always well-stocked warehouse, we can ensure fast shipments, both nationally and internationally.
All the quality and technology of GIASCO shoes, always on time, anywhere in the world.

What country is listed on the Made in label?

But one question arises. If the GIASCO product claims to represent Italian excellence, why does it have a MADE IN TUNISIA or Romania label?
The EU Customs Code (EU Regulation 952/2013) and its applicable regulations, which all European manufacturers must follow, are the legislative reference for identifying the NON-PREFERENTIAL ORIGIN of a product. This refers to the origin label generally found on products, using the "MADE IN" statement.
Specifically, the current customs regulations stipulate that for products classified in the customs nomenclature under code 6403 (which includes safety footwear), the origin of footwear made in Italy but obtained from an imported semi-finished product with an already attached primary sole (so-called insole) must be identified as the country of origin of the semi-finished product. In most cases, this activity—the application of the insole—is carried out simultaneously with the construction of the uppers.
Therefore, although GIASCO carries out most of the production process and investment in Italy, with key personnel and technologies at its headquarters in Chiampo (VI), the product is labeled with a country other than Italy, in compliance with the applicable regulations.
We are still confident that the quality and technology inherent in GIASCO safety footwear are clearly communicated when the product is worn by the consumer.

Beware of False MADE IN Labels

The production of footwear from foreign semi-finished products, as mentioned above, is widely practiced.
Although the European regulation on this matter is clear, it is often the case that safety footwear (and not only) found on shelves bears labels such as MADE IN ITALY/MADE IN GERMANY/MADE IN FRANCE, which may conceal the actual origin, which, if correctly identified, should be associated with countries such as China, India, Romania, Tunisia, Brazil, Vietnam, etc.
GIASCO is committed to maintaining communication that is respectful of the law and transparent with its customers and consumers. For this reason, we report the origin required by law on the label.
We recommend that distributors and retailers carefully check the origin of the products on their shelves. If authorities encounter situations where the correct origin is not indicated, distributors and retailers may be held jointly responsible with the manufacturer under criminal law.

Further Confirmation from the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM)

To act with the utmost correctness and transparency, in 2024 GIASCO decided to ask the Customs and Monopolies Agency for a technical-legal opinion on the origin of the footwear by using the IVO (Binding Origin Information) procedure.
The Agency analyzed the product and GIASCO's production process, and while the importance of the Italian origin of individual materials and the predominance of activities carried out at our headquarters was confirmed, the Agency confirmed that the origin, from a customs perspective, is acquired in the country where the production of the uppers, complete with insole, is carried out.

Thus, GIASCO continues to follow the path of legality, hoping that cases where safety footwear bear incorrect origin labels will be reduced in the market. Such situations are not only misleading for consumers when making choices but also represent unfair competition against manufacturers who comply with the law.
